Snow Goons

Have you ever read the comic strip "Calvin & Hobbes?" If so, then you know all about snow goons. If not, then see this snow art gallery. The kids and I LOVE reading "Calvin & Hobbes." Today we made some of our favorite snow goons. We had plenty of time today. The 2 hour delay got changed to "no school", so this is the 3rd day the kids have had off school.

This is the 2 headed mini-mutant snow goon. I especially like the ice-encrusted eyes and arms. It gives the arms a special translucent look. We built it on top of the wood burning stove, so we could see it a little better. It's kinda small (the snow is too powdery), but nice. Of course....if we decide to have s'mores tonight.....it's history.

This is a happy swimming snowman. Unfortunately, he doesn't see the 3 sharks to the right. Yes, I know it's strange, but you have to see the comic strip. It really is funny in a weird way. Wonder whose side of the family that strange sense of humor comes from?

Jenna actually spent a lot of time outside today. She decided to make a snow fort out of sheets of ice. It's kind of hard to break off large sheets of ice, so this was a problem. It would be a great fort for small snowmen though. We had a fun day playing in the snow, but it was much colder - around 18 degrees. Brrrrrrrrrr.
